Jean Gilde Hoffman, 91, enjoyed travel Jean Gilde Hoffman died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Sycamore Manor, Montoursville, Pa., where she had been a resident for the past four and a half years. Born May 2, 1920, in Wethersfield, Mrs. Hoffman was the second of three daughters to the late Francis Henry and Marie Louise (Berger) Gilde. Upon graduation from Wethersfield High School she worked for the Society for Savings Bank in Hartford. Proposed to marry on her first date by her husband-to-be, Stearns, she waited for his return from World War II and they married in 1945.
